Bus Trip
11.18.2017, 04:30 AM
Expanding Opportunities was conceptualized in 2015 by Romunda Harris-Fonville and Willie Price, Jr. That same year Expanding Opps took a total of 33 passengers (9 chaperones, 17 students, 6 parents/guardians and 1 coordinator) from Buffalo, NY to Cleveland, OH for the thirteenth annual HBCU fair. This trip resulted in 2 on-site offers of admissions and 4 subsequent offers of admission to an HBCU college or university (a 35.29% acceptance rate). In 2016 the organization developed a 3 year plan and became a consortium with a growing list of supporters. That same year we went our on our second "Fantastic Voyage" with sold out attendance and tripled the number of on-site offers received by our attendees,
How it began
In 2017 Expanding Opportunities' goal is to once again sell out our 53 seats, extend our demographics to include more schools in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Ontario, Canada, and to foster a better understanding among guidance personnel of the HBCU experience. To that end we will make our third journey to the the fifteenth annual fair in Cleveland, OH.
